What's the difference between Vegetarian and Vegan? What foods could a Vegetarian eat that a Vagan would not?

A vegetarian is a person who practices vegitarianism, the theory or practice of living on a diet made up of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, and sometimes eggs or dairy products.

A vegan is a strict vegetarian who consumes no animal food or dairy products; also one who abstains from using animal products (as leather).

Unlike the vegetarian, the vegan would stay away from the eggs and dairy products, among all other animal food.

No, I'm afraid I love meat, and it would be a great disappointment if I could not enjoy a nice thick steak on occasion. wink I'm asking because I am attending a church that has a higher than usual concentration of vegetarians and vegans. On occasion they have pot luck meals, and they ask that vegetarian and vegan dishes be labeled as such. I just wanted to know the difference, so that I could choose dishes that would appeal to all. Thanks!

Interesting, so would this also include items such as toothpaste and silk? What about animal products that are naturally left behind, like sea shells?

Also is it true that some vegetarians still eat fish?

It includes silk, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, perfumes and I could go on for pages. However, not every company uses animals for testing. The backs of the products will say 'Not tested on Animals', and that's what I wish everyone would buy.

As for the fish, I guess it would depend on the individual. A true vegitarian would not, but there are some that only go to a certain extent.
