Can anyone clear up what happened the nights of the 9th and 10th of August, 1872, during the french revolution?
My project is to make a newspaper article in the perspective of the lower class of society on the events that took place on those two days, but I just don't really understand what happened at all. |

Well, Soleil, the date you indicated is wrong(1872). The F.R. lasted ten years from 1789 till 1799. Assuming it was a mistake , you probably meant 1792.
Enraged Parisians men and women, inflamed by their poverty and hatred of wealth, attacked the King's palace and killed several hundreds of Swiss Guards during that night of the 9-10th of August.Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette were forced to flee "Les tuileries" and take refuge in the Legislative Assembly itself. The Royal family was placed under house arrest. The result of this journee was the radicalization of the Revolution.I suggest that you aim your research at the Social and Economic ideas of the "Sans-Culottes". |
