"I may be gone for some time......."

Would that be Lawrence Oates, member of Scott's expedition to the Antarctic 1910-12 .
He was injured and was afraid that he would slow down the others so he heroically walked out into the blizzard to die.
His last words were ' I am just going outside and may be gone for some time'
