Yafa wins by a KO, as did Louis. Louis was asked how he, basically a shuffling fighter with an admittedly extremely powerful punch, could catch the much faster Conn, who was abouth 23 pounds lighter. Louis was right, but only because Conn, having outboxed Louis for 12 rounds, decided to go for a knockout. Bad decision. All Conn needed was to win one of the last three rounds for a victory, but he never got to see them. Conn was not a KO fighter, having only about 15 in his 60+ victories, and that against lightheavies. Lewis was a KO puncher, having KOed most of his heavyweight opponents. Louis was also a great finisher, meaning once he hurt his opponent, he was very good at going in for the kill. He hurt Conn, and then did what he knew best. Conn looked like someone instantly falling alseep while walking, which in a way, he did. The bout took place in June, 1941, and was really the last great fight for either. There was a rematch in 46, but both fighters were far over the hill by then. Louis had several years in both boxing and wrestling ahead of him, but was frankly not too good. But he still had that punch ! Not until Sonny Liston became champion in 1962 did the heavies have someone who could hit harder than Louis. ( Please, no comments about Marciano. A hand fed diet of chumps and over-the-hill guys does not make a true puncher, only a good record.)
