I can figure out most equations that say reacts with etc like this one:
In a decomposition reaction sulfur trioxide produces sulfur dioxide and oxygen gas. the equation (I think ) is 2SO3---->2SO2 + O2 but when they throw reduce and steam in it I am getting confused- do I still wirte it the same way? and is steam written as H2O + heat? like this question Hydrogen gas reduces nitrogen dioxide gas to produce ammonia gas and steam I said it was: H2 + NO2 ---> NH3 +H2O +heat the balanced finished equation would then be 7H2 + 2NO2 ---> 2NH3 + 4H2O + heat did I do this right? |

Reduce in this sense means that it (the hydrogen) reduces the charge (makes it more negative) of one of the atoms in the reaction. Figuring out what oxidation state each atom is in in the reactants, then comparing that to the products, shoudl make this clear.
Your equation looks right to me. |
