Hi there everybody. I need your help once again searching the web. I've just kinda been looking around for the little stuff for our wedding. Stuff like toasting glasses, unity candle, cake toppers, all that hoo-ha-ha stuff. My problem is everything is so frilly and frufru, and I am not a frilly frufru girl. Would anyone mind linking me up to some online vendors that sell odd and unusual wedding accessories? Shawn's a kayaker and I thought how fun it would be if I could find something of that nature that we could tie in. But I'd love anything Renaissance or musical as well. Just no flowery, lacey stuff. Thanks for the help everyone! Smile

Title edited for clarity.

Instead of looking on-line, try checking out the local trophy stores or engravers...these places often have unusual, non-frilly items and sometimes will engrave for free items you buy from them.
Good luck!

Here is what I have found so far:
Custom Wedding Cake Toppers

Dolphin Toasting Glasses

Medieval Devotion Goblets

Castle Wedding Cake

Wedding Toppers that look like bride and groom!

Pewter Castle Cake Topper

Celtic Cake Toppers
Celtic Chalices and Flutes
Celtic Unity Candle

Celestial Themed Unity Candles

Beach Themed Unity Candle

Well! These are enought links to keep you busy for a few minutes. While on each page look around at the other items. You might find something even better!

And just one little comment. There is nothing wrong with having a uniquely themed wedding. And there is also no rule that you have to use "wedding accessories". You can use anything you want to use for a cake topper, toasting flutes, unity candle, etc. If you want to keep along the lines of kayaking then look in a sports stores for novelty items or figurines that you could possible use as a cake topper.

Best of luck and have fun!

Georgia, I love those cake toppers on the first link. Those are awesome. Yet they are incredibly expensive. It broke my heart! I want one, but don't think I can shell out $400 for a cake top! Yikes! Thanks so much for all the links. They were great.

As far as shopping around town goes, there's not a whole lot here, and BELIEVE ME when I say I want to buy as much as I can in my hometown. I'm all about keeping the money here. However, if I can't find what I want, I gotta look elsewhere. I have several trips to the Springs planned and I'll check there, but I also love these links to get ideas.

I'll tell you guys what I'm doing so far, and you tell me what you think.

For our favors, since I already have 300 on the guest list, (and it is still growing) I gotta do something small. My wedding is a winter theme and I'm going all out with the wintery Christmasy stuff. (You guys know me and the winter!) So, I figured on getting a whole bunch of jingle bells at the craft store and outfitting them with a little tag with our names and the date, and a pretty little bow.

My guestbook. This is the one I'm really excited about. I came up with this idea, and personally, I think it's awesome. Instead of getting a little book that will sit in a box in the basement and get dusty, I'm going to get a very nice piece of paper (poster sized...probably 34x22). There's a guy here at my work that does these incredible caricatures (sp?). Anyway, I'm gonna have him do a drawing of us in the middle, then have people sign the poster instead of a book. After the wedding, I'll have it framed. Cool huh?

I've already figured out decor and the likes. Really, the only thing I'm out the look out for is the things I mentioned above. A candle, cake topper, serving set, glasses. I could really care less about the candle and the serving set. I'm really on the hunt for a cool topper and glasses. Thanks for all the help you guys. Keep the links coming if you find anymore!

LOL@mattlynda! I see I have taught you well! Wink

Jenni, like the jingle bell idea! The jury is still out on the framed poster tho. Don't get me wrong, I think the caricatures would be wonderful. But the signatures might take away from the special artwork.

So you are going with a winter theme now? If you can tell me what you are looking for along the lines of a cake topper that will fit in with your winter theme I betcha I can find one Big Grin

The winter theme has always been in place. I failed to mention that in my original post. Roll Eyes My colors are going to be wine & gold. I don't really care what the topper is, I just want something different. I'd not partial to the tradition bride & groom standing next to each other with the frilly lace & toole around them. Just different. Something Christmas-y would be cool. I'm even thinking about getting some neat ornament and using that as a cake top. I found a really cute cake that is a winter snow scene with frosting evergreen trees and snowflakes. I'll probably go with something like that.

My girls are wearing velvet tops, (wine in color, 3/4 length sleeves, v-back), with satin skirts. That is, if we can find it. I'm actually looking for a good seamstress right now. I know where I can buy the material cheap, and the dress is very straight lines, very simple. Probably get off a lot cheaper if I can have them made. I'm thinking of buying them white muffs for a complete winter look. Here's the dress I love for them: Dresses

I'm most likely going to use pointsettias as my centerpieces for the reception. They will be going on sale VERY cheap in late December, and I'll be happy with nice, cheap centerpieces. I also worked as a florist for years, so I know what to do for the whole floral situation.

As for my decorations for the reception, I'm using the 4 artificial trees of mine (Roll Eyes I love Christmas. I have many trees.) my parents tree, and some friends trees, and will load them with white lights and elegant bows. Voila. Simple and elegant decor. (Hate to brag, but I think I'm pretty darn good at bows. I make and sell wreaths and everyone always compliments my bows. Big Grin)

So, that's what I got so far. Oh, and I'm planning on my bouquet to be Christmas greens and white Calla lilies. I love callas. I think that's about all I got.

Oh, I found a dress I'm in love with, but haven't been down to try it on yet. Here it is:

Jenn's dress (maybe!)
And I'm gonna go with a cathedral length veil.

I think that about sums it up. If you find anything wintery...send it my way. I'm loving all the ideas. Thanks so much girls! I love ya!!! Big Grin

Sure hope your wedding is gonna be in the winter!

Snowflake Wedding Cake Topper

Christmas Tree Cake Topper

Snowflake Rhinestone Headpiece with Veil

Snowflake Placecard Holders

And read
this for some ideas on how you can decorate using the winter theme.

P.S. Fancy dress! Hope you have narrow shoulders. The straps will call attention to your back and shoulder and make them look wider than they are.

awesome ideas so far. i love the christmas trees. Big Grin
one thing you could do for the toasting glasses, is decorate your own. buy two really cheap whine flutes, and decorate them with rhinestones.
also, for the stuff you really arent too concerned about, wait for the christmas sales, and pick up an awesome candle and other accessories.
and what about a tree topper for your cake topper? there are some awesome tree toppers out there.

LOL @ Lynda!!!

A present cake would be a cool idea. I'll have to think about that. And I never thought about using a bow for the cake. That would be pretty neat. I think I might do something like that. Thanks for the great suggestions! I'm really getting some good ideas now!

Hi,

Im new to answerpool.

I saw your posts and was wondering if anyone in searching had found links for cake tops where the bride and groom are diffrent heights (but not the personalized ones way out of our budget for the whole wedding let alone the cake top) or if anyone had found something with a fall theme.

I am hoping ot find a Oak, Maple, or Willow tree, in fall foliage. Or even regular foliage I can paint it to look like fall.

I figured this would be an easy replacement for a couple topper. Hes 6'4 im 5'2 any traditional top is not going to look like us.

Hi and welcome to Answerpool.

www.bridestuff.com has some great toppers and my favorite is the ceramic bride and groom figurine which shows a height difference and is reasonably priced at $29.99

I found fall leaves but they were $81. You might still like to check out that site - there were some different height bride and groom toppers there too.

Btw, if you like the couple from the first link I posted I just found it at www.weddingaccessories.net cheaper for $16.49

Of course, you can always order this cake from rosiesbakery.com "Gum paste leaves in glorious fall colors and real acorns surround the front of each tier that is covered in fondant-over-butter cream paying tribute to another beautiful New England season." All her cakes are gorgeous - it's fun to look at the pictures even if you don't buy one.

Good luck and have fun planning it!

The name of the cake topper from the bridestuff.com was "ceramic bride and groom figurine" Unfortunately I cannot paste the picture here but try going to the direct page:
Ceramic Bride & Groom "The Dancing Couple Caketop offers a very romantic look to any wedding cake. This ceramic caketop measures 7" x 3 3/4". (1 1/2lbs.)R0405F"
