ok, i have NO idea where to post this, so im sticking it here.
i am looking for wedding/binding ceremonies that involve swords. big heavy broad swords. think king arthur. or, better yet, if youve seen the video, think godsmacks 'voodoo'. if not binding ceremonies, then ANY ceremony that could be altered to fit that theme. if not, we will just make one up.
i am also looking for any albertan compaines that could rent out 50 or so big bad broad swords.
this isnt a pressing issue, as i want them for matt and i's 5 year wedding anniversary/vow renewal (in 4 years).
this will be the way we wanted our wedding, but decided against, so that his family would actually come.
mattlynda, I would bet that you could adapt a military saber arch to fit what you are looking for. Just add broadswords! http://www.newsherald.com/articles/2002/01/20/bl012002c.htm http://www.yourfairytale.com/amber.html
we were thinking of that, seing as we have searched and searched and cant seem to find anything else, but came to the conclusion that we would rather not have swords at all than to to something that has been done a million times before. yes, we are stubborn.
Another possibility for equipment could be local theater or acting schools. For productions like Macbeth and King Arthur a good-sized troupe or theater group would surely have both prop swords and costumery. Tis a longshot, but you may also find some folks there who would love to take place in making whatever ceremony you find or devise more "flavorful" and authentic.
good plan dog. we have some medieval fanatics in the city not far from here, they just might want to come for a party, food, and dress up. plus, that means more party goers for us.
