Just looking for some suggestions and photos on how I should wear my hair for the wedding. My hair is thick and about 4 inches past my shoulders. I'm going to be wearing either a floor length or cathedral length veil, so I don't really want to get too fancy with my hair. Thanks for the help!

I found this site on hairstyles. It has some great tips. This should get you started. Smile

I think hair your length and texture would look great with partly up with flowers in it.

The first site says:

quote:
Tiara's and veils
These should compliment your hairstyle but not hide it. If you have chosen a large floor-length veil, your hairstyle needs to be sturdy enough to hold it's shape until you take the veil off. Some veils look better sat at the back of the head under a mass of curls or a bun. As a rule, the hair shouldn't be worn longer than the veil.

Jenni - Having seen you in person Big Grin I envision you with your hair up, with curly tendrils framing your face.

Thanks for the help guys. While we're at it, would you mind helping me find a veil? I want an ankle or chapel length veil, but I'm not going to pay a lot of money for it. Single layer white veil is what I have in mind. No fancy headpiece, just a comb.

I've found this veil that's only $29.99, but I don't want a blusher, plus it's a little longer than I wanted.

This site has a build your own veil, and I come out at around $43.00 there. That's still a little more than I wanted to spend, but it's better.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

What is a blusher? Confused

Is there a way you could wear the headpiece worn by your mother or grandmother? Possibly his mother or grandmother? (that would be nice)

I will keep looking Smile

P.S. If you know someone who sews this would be super simple to make!

I can make one and the thought has crossed my mind, but I'm making so many other things, if I can find one at the right price, I'd rather buy one. Hobby Lobby does have pre-made veils that are inexpensive, but they only come in fingertip as the longest length.

Georgia, while that veil is very nice, it's a little too froofy for me. I just want a simple straight plain veil, with no frillies, flowers, beads or ga-gas. Simplicity is what I'm looking for.

Clare, a blusher is the short layer of a veil that would be used to cover the face, and then lifted above and behind the brides head by, usually, her father or the groom.

Here is something almost exactly what I want, less the rhinestones. Just can't shell out $120 for it though. Eek I even think I prefer this length...less the froofies of course. I even like the little rhinestones in this, but can't see spending that much on a veil.

Thanks so much for your helps girls!! I really, really appreciate it! Hope you're all planning a Colorado winter vacation next year! Wink Big Grin

Oh I know that veil is way to fru fru for you. I just wanted you to see what Michaels had to offer and that is was possible to make a very attractive veil. There is another alternative you might consider. Go to a fabric store and to the wedding section. Often times veils will be pre-made to show off patterns available and the store usually sells items that are made for display.

well, everyone has given great advice, so i thought id ruin the thread by poping in here. Big Grin

as for the hair, what about masses of curls?
you dont have to have a fancy up-do that interfers with the veil, and would look amazing on you! ooO with LOTS of glitter and some flowers or beading worked into it. you could either just let the curls fall where they want, or pin them back from your face with awesome clips or fancy bobby pins.
