My daughter age 29 is going to a wedding and she has planned on wearing a red dress but she found out the brides maids are also wearing red, is it appropriate to wear the same color as the brides maids.

I would wear something else because people would think I was a bridesmaid.

I wouldn't wear red if the bridesmaids are. Though perhaps she could find out what shade of red (deep dark red vs. a pinker tone) the bridesmaids are wearing and wear a different shade.
