Does anyone know where I can find a pelmeni maker? Pelmeni is a Russian (Siberian) food that is similar to ravioli. I have also heard it described as Russian dumplings. A pelmeni maker is a tool similar to a ravioli mold except that the size and shape of the hloes are a bit different. I have tried making these with and without the mold and it is so much easier with. Unfortunately, the maker was only loaned to me for a short time and the owners brought it from Russia when they emigrated 12 years ago.
I found a website, but it says it is not exclusively for that, but it is listed in the capabilities of the maker. Check it out. I hope this is what you are looking for.
Every place I searched had makers that were of commercial quality priced in the thousands of dollars......I will continue to look and let you know if I find one.

thanks for your effort. I have also only been able to find industrial/commercial scale expensive one. The one i have used has a price still engraved in it, 1.95 rubles, so i can't imagine the type i'm looking for being very expensive.
what i'm looking for resembles this ravioli maker except that the holes are a different size and shape and the whole thing is circular with ~40 holes instead of rectangular with only 12.
I spent a few rollicking hours chasing pelmeni molds all over SF. Phone, net, foot and car. Fun.
Once I saw one here, but where? Today found only the one you pictured. Two parts, plastic and metal. The concave part makes 10 thumbnail size pillows. You can find this one at most good cookware stores. Or I can give you the address.
When you find the right mold, please let me know where to get one.

You have no idea how good that makes me feel! I wasn't sure what a ravioli maker looked like because the above link seemed outdated. And when I saw this picture I thought it might be a piece that would fit on a maker...did not know it was the actual maker
Of course you realize that this means I get a sample from the first batch you make...

Georgia: It actually looks exactly the one I've used before, except for the material. All you need is a bowl, a spoon, some measures, the mold, and a rolling pin.
