Try also a spot of Cif and a paper towel .Have used it for years for Many Cleaning Tough Jobs(Is slightly scented too) If you cannot find that Look for anything marked Kitchen "cream cleaner" Its virtually the same stuff (and Its cheap) Also a brilliant Hand cleaner (and I have some delicate skin patches) Using the older remedies such as Swarfega or Ajax that leaves a slimy residue Ajax is also quite abrasive Cream cleaner in use on a metal sinktop(Videoclip)

For a clean stovetop, I've always counted on a foaming cleaner - and alot of elbow grease with a plastic scrubber.
I inherited a really nice range once...and it was full of those brown spots that just don't seem to want to come off.
I literally slathered the thing with foaming cleanser...let it dissolve, and then slathered it some more. Then, I scrubbed and scrubbed with one of those plastic net scrubbers - not steel wool!....I got that stovetop looking like brand new, and was able to keep it that way because I didn't scratch the enamel.
