For my birthday this year I have decided that I want a vacuum cleaner. Yes, really.
We have an upright Oreck, but it has no attachments for corners and curtains and upholstery and whatnot. We have a handheld Dirt Devil, but it only has one hose that never really stays on right and it kind of sucks at sucking anyway. So I want a new handheld vacuum with all the fun attachments so I can get the dirt out of my stairs and the hair out of my corners and the crumbs out of my couch and the creatures out from under my bed. I used to have an upright Kirby, which came with all sorts of great attachments, so that’s kind of what I have in mind, but since we have a decent upright, I want to replace the handheld.
Any recommendations? I’d prefer something made in America and eco-friendly, if that’s even possible. What should I ask for?

For a handheld, I really liked my Shark- This site seems to have a fairly comprehensive listing of reviews of a wide range of products.
