I just got a letter in the mail offering me a free coffee pot if I sign up to have coffee shipped to me. You initially pay $14.95 and you get a free Stainless Steel Encased 12-cup Programmable Coffeemaker, coffee scoop and 1 lb of coffee. Has anyone ever received this offer or do you know anyone who has done this? How is the coffee? Is this really a deal? If you keep the membership then you pay $5.55-$7.25 for 2 lbs. regular plus the s/h. You can cancel at anytime and still keep the coffee pot. Gevalia Coffee
Any comments on this? Is it worth it even if just to get the coffee pot?

Clare, if you go to the end of the form it asks for your credit card details. You cannot get the free coffee maker and the first lot of coffee without giving it! Your chosen coffee will be sent at six week intervals and charged to your card. There are similar offers in the UK to this, with different products. I know it says you can cancel anytime but once they have your card details you may keep receiving more coffee.
It probably wouldn't cost much more than the initial cost of the offer for a similar coffee maker. Also the coffee comes in 1/2 lb packs not 1lb as you thought!
I would stay clear and just buy a good coffee maker.

Clare, The Gevalia coffee is quite good. A friend of mine ordered it and got a free coffee pot (it was a different type of pot since she ordered it years ago). Because the coffee is so good, she finds it's worth it to continue to order it. You can cancel it at any time and they will stop sending it though.
If it tells you that you get 2 lbs of coffee, maybe it comes in 1/2 lb packages, but I don't think they'd tell you you get 2 lbs if you only are going to get 1.
I guess if you're just going to do it to get a free coffee maker, it's likely not worth the bother, but if you think you'd like to try the coffee, you don't really have anything to lose.
