I re-discovered my 30-year-old electric skillet while we had the kitchen torn up for remodeling. The utility room became my kitchen with electric skillet, toaster and coffee maker. This summer I took a cooking class where the teacher used an electric skillet, saying it was best for things where you had to control the temp. Now mine is about to give up, as it is always on High. Rather than try to fix it, I'd like to have a new non-stock one, but there isn't much info out there. There are a few in stores but they are so obscure that Consumer Reports hasn't rated them. I did find some ratings on epinions.com. Anybody have any experience, good or bad, with electric skillets? Thanks

I have a Sunbeam electric skillet and I love it. It's teflon coated so it's non-stick. You can pick one up at Walmart, Target, or any retail store.

I just checked my electric skillet, and it is a Sunbeam also.

My Sunbeam is 50+ years old, and was a wedding gift when my parents were married. It is aluminum, and I have the rack, broiler unit, and even the original instructions.

It works well for frying, having the temperature control. It is the perfect size for frying chicken, or cooking four grilled sandwiches.

Every kitchen should have one.

I haven't had a decent electric skillet in years...One I had years ago ( I think one like you have NC ) the heat control was really accurate and very quick reaction about coming on and off...The new ones seem to wait 3-4 minutes between hitting high temp and coming back on....
HEY NC, ya wanna sell the one you have ???
