I know this sounds like it should go under shopping, but others posting with healh issues of elderly family will know that sending flowers is a big deal to their recovery.

Delivered flowers are a fun suprise to someone hospatilized. It's a lot better than bringing them yourself. I need an enexpensive flower site to load her room!

Money is tight with my furnace on and Christmas coming up. I'm thinking that given her age and extreme love of attention, she might like flowers for bragging rights to the many health care people coming and going from her room.

My grandma is going to be 93 in January. This is the second trip to the hospital within a week. She is black and blue from a fall at the grocrie store and has a cast on her arm where she broke it. She is on a blood thinner and bruising is really bad with these type of drugs.

This time, she has a bowel obstruction. You know how elderly relatives are! The love family attention. I'm not exactly a flower person myself, but sending flowers gives her bragging rights that she really does have people that care about her and something to talk about.

I'm desparate! I hope someone is online that can give me a site for flowers that doesn't cost a fortune, but looks nice. I'm going to buy on my brother's behalf. He wont think of it. I'm also buying on my kid's behalf and this gets expensive.

Old people that are sick often feel so much better and hang on with something as stupid as flowers. It gives them something positive to hang on. It also tells medical people, this is someone cared about, so take good care of her or get sued.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not threatening to sue at all. I am only asking for decent care. She apparently told them I was an RN and that one made it to report, as be careful with this one.

Flowers in the room definitely help matters! I'm going to load her room with them, at my expense from anyone I can think of. She has to keep her spirts up and have something to talk about when we aren't there.

Please help me quickly!!

Does she live near you?

Online flower sites are often very expensive, whereas going directly to a local florist can give both local flowers that cost less and support local businesses.

If she doesn't live near you, you can use the yellow pages to do just a bit of price comparing and get a really good value for you money.

Also, you might consider planters rather than flowers. They last longer and are more attractive for a longer period of time. Smile

If you live near her, you can bribe neighborhood Boy Scouts to deliver flowers you purchased in bulk then arranged yourself...
Many supermarkets offer delivery and have surprisingly good florist departments... and as Sher pointed out, live plants are often more welcome than cut flowers and leafy, "matte" leafed things like ferns, african violets and colius do a surprising job of counteracting the stale feel of the air in hospitals and other care settings.
This time of year, it's easy to find bulbs that are packaged with soil and a pretty container, ready to plant for Christmas blooms.

PS... before you buy flowers or a plant to be delivered in your brother's name, try suggesting that he do it, or telling him "I'm ordering Grandma some flowers... Do you want me to have some sent from you, too?" He might surprise you.

Prior to living in the same town as my mom, whenever I wanted to send her flowers, I dealt directly with the florist IN her town over the phone rather than going through FTD or the like. It saved alot of money, and I knew that they would go out of their way to take nice arrangements because they knew her Smile

If ever in question with elderly family, do the flower thing! My grandma has her bragging rights that someone does care enough about her to immitate flowers that will cost you $50, at least. I just immitated it and it worked!

I wasn't wrong. Flowers that look like delivered ones, and don't forget the cheap tie on tag, gives the elderly hope and bragging rights.

I did the right thing. I loaded her hospital room with WalMart flowers that immitate delivered ones. It makes my grandma feel good to tell anyone in her hospital room about how her family really does love her.

It's not about flowers at all, but you better make it look like delivered ones! It really is about old people hanging on because they know they are loved.

Send flowers!
