I know that the co2 on blood gas values is the respiratory center. I know that the other values like the ph, p02,bi carb etc..if the are decreased are called acidotic. Now am I understanding this right if the co2 is decreased that it is alkolitic? Just the opposite of the other values? Thanks

Decreased pCO2 is known as respiratory alkalosis and increased pCO2 is known as respiratory acidosis. The former is often due to hyperventilation, the latter occurs in respiratory failure and can also be a compensatory event of hypoventilation.
