Who's needs/rights are more important:

Is it more important to protect the 'privacy' of convicted child molestors, or to advertise their locations to protect children in the area?

What's most important is to protect children from predators, by advertising the location of child molestors as being the local penitentiary, for the remainder of the criminals' lives.

For once I agree with Mr Sen. I believe that once you commit a crime that endagers the life or liberty of other people, it shows you have no repect for the sanctity of life, and you no longer should be allowed to enjoy the same freedoms are the rest of us.

Since these perverts are let out of prisons and sent out on the street, I would like billboards stating their location and a picture of them. I strongly believe in the rights of the individual. In this case, the safety of the public is a much larger concern. These people just don't seem to change their ways as one might that went to prison for another crime.

I think it's something of a balancing act. The right and protection of the children are absolutely first and foremost. But we must also consider whether the convicted child molester may have been rehabilitated, whether he may no longer have these urges. I'm not saying it's likely, I'm just saying it's possible. Anyone seen "Strangeland"? Anyone wonder if Captain Howdy would really have been okay after all if society hadn't decided to mess with him?

The children are most important, but we do have to consider whether broadcasting an individual's entire life to the public will inversely reinforce his predispositions...

I would have to say that the children's safety is the most important. If the offender wants privacy, too bad. He/she should have thought about that before they commited the crime. Whether or not they have 'rehabilitated' makes no difference to me. My kids well being is too precious to take the chance.

I agree 100% with Mr. Sensitive. However, since we live in far less than a perfect world, the rights of the children come first. I think it is important to plaster these individuals' addresses in order to gain as much publicity as possible. These individuals would not have their privacy invaded had they not committed their acts in the first place.
