NC, BellSouth has been told by the FCC that they have 4 business days complete this transaction. However, that applies to only the top 100 most populated metro areas such as Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, etc...and also when the switch is to a wireless provider who's calling network overlaps ours. For remaining areas, the FCC ruling doesn't take effect until the end of May. You mentioned that you were transferring your number to Nextel. You should have provided them with the number you wanted transferred, and the necessary account info from BellSouth needed to initiate the porting process. Nextel then would have checked the porting eligibility for your number. But that check tool is also available at nextel.com if you want to check for yourself the eligibility of your number porting to Nextel. It's possible your port request is still being processed. If that is the case, Nextel should keep you updated. If you are not hearing from them contact their customer care at 1-800-639-6111 Mon-Fri 7am - 10 pm Sat 8am - 5 pm
