Is this a obvious topic for a paper on the Great Gatsby? I'm afraid it is...

Money is used by many of the characters as a shield from their so-called dreary realities, but serves no other purpose than to coat their lives with hollow emptiness that leads to nothing more than their ultimate loss or inadequate findings of happiness and fulfillment.

That is what I have typed up so far. Let me know what you think..or if you have any further ideas please let me know.
