I have 2 indoor cats and they both wear collars with their rabies tags and name tags with their names, my name, address, and phone number. You never can be too safe. If they should ever bolt out of an open door I know that should someone find them they would be able to contact me.

I've always been told that cats can get hung on something if they have a collar on. And that's a possibility!
If I did put a collar on them, it would have to one that would pull apart if it had any tension put on it.
But no, they don't wear collars. And they've been neutered so they don't stray far.

Neutering doesn't keep my cat from trying to stray far. LOL

All I can say is I am soooo thankfull I believe in collars! And I bet if any of you ever lose a cat because there was no ID on him/her you might rethink things. Remember Samantha never has found her Puppy.... Frown

4 out of our 5 cats wear collars with their tags on 24/7. They are safety break-away collars.
Harley doesn't wear one because she has never worn one, and she's too fat to make a break for the door. She's afraid of outside, so she has no interest in the doors or windows.

My parents tried a collar with our cat when I was growing up. Ha! That was just silly of them. She slipped out of it every chance she got. We could never get one that she would keep on. And she was an outside cat! We just gave up. She always came home.
My cats are indoor cats, but I do have collars for them for trips and in case we ever have to evacuate. Their collars are on the same hook as my keys. I put them on the girls every so often, just so they remember what it feels like, but I won't leave them on. Not the way they fight.
So, do my cats have collars? Yes. Do they ever wear them? No, not really.
