what does it mean if you can fly in your dreams? I think everyone has had a falling and/or chasing dream, I am always able to fly, like a bird, at the last possible moment. How common is this?

wlm, my mother always had dreams of flying in the manner of which you speak. She always felt 'trapped' just before 'taking flight'.
She was at the edge of a cliff trapped by fire.
She was running and came to a washed-out bridge over a raging river. As she could not stop, she took off in flight.
Each time she 'flew' she was always in danger, so this was the 'fight or flight" reaction.
Only once did she actually fly off the bed, landing on the floor. smile I would ask her if her arms were tired; she always answered 'yes.'

Ask yourself if you feel, or if you believe, that you are in any kind of danger. Are you facing a situation in which you feel trapped?

Yes, I am always in trouble. It happens in chase dreams, the ones were you are running in slow motion and just as you're about to be caught, something happens and up,up, and away. It is the strangest feeling, butterflies in my stomach, the wind, and wonderful feeling of exhileration.I've also had them in falling dreams.I have never heard of anyone else and most people think it quite odd. Thank you for your reply a.

I have read that dreaming you can fly, is an indicator that you are content in your life, as it relates to happiness and freedom. I have been a lucid dreamer most of my life, which means I realize I am asleep and can exert a certain amount of direction to the dreams outcome. That began as a child when I would dream of fantastic toys and I would realize I was asleep and they would not be there when I awoke. When I dream of flying, which is only about 10% of the time, I find that there are always some power lines in the way and after I make the first couple of flights, I am unable to fly again until the next occurrance of this type of dream. To fly in my dreams, I just have to run, and then "believe I can fly". The flight itself is kind of like superman, I don't have to keep running or flap my arms or anything, just think about which way I want to go next, and then I do.

Dreams of monsters or villians never scare me, I enjoy them because, as I said, I have lucid dreams and always win the fights. I have been shot and killed in my dreams, but I never die. If that makes any sense.

Vedere, after rereading your reply I think you ment for me to ask myself if I was in trouble in real life situations, and I took it to be while I was having the actual dream. I didn't mean to sound as though I had "trouble" knocking at my door on a daily basis.
KingKrimson, I am very busy and very comfortable with my life, although the children do make me wish I could really fly, at times. Thanks for the reply.

It is written that with every temptation (trial), God provides a way of escape. In these flying dreams, He is sending the Holy Spirit (the Comforter) as He is represented in the Bible (like a dove), only the dreamer becomes like a dove, flying away. God and His angels much enjoy those more upbeat dreams with their happy, Spirit-filled endings!

Usually, those chasing dreams tire me so that I have to awaken out of them.

It is very interesting to read about everyone's experiences with their dreams. I can also control my dreams and it makes going to bed at night particularly enjoyable. I can pick anything to dream about with such clarity that sometimes (very rarely)it takes a few minutes on waking up to sort out reality from fantasy.

Often I have a dream of running into the hall of my home and leaping down a flight of stairs. The instant I am about to hit the floor, I wake up, sweating, heavily breathing, the works. eek Weirdest thing is, when I do wake up, my body feels the impact, almost as if my whole body lurched down into the bed. Frightening...

btw, in response to KK, I've read that flight in itself means contentment, but flying in fear or from danger means discontent and a struggle for freedom.
