I rarely remember my dreams, as a matter of fact, if I dream, they usually do not linger, but this dream was so real and I wondered what it might mean. Of course, I have my own ideas, but would like some further insight:

I was lying in bed asleep, exactly as I had fallen asleep in reality earlier, I woke up and the devil/a demon was standing over me trying to pry my forehead open with his hands. He was all up in my face (he smelled), He said that he had to get my head open, and I was right back in his face saying "Get thee behind me Satan"! "I am under God's protection"! I did not try to get up as he was holding me down, but I was looking him directly in the eyes and screaming. I woke up suddenly and my body felt like a fireball shot through it, then I was engulfed in absolute peace -- I got up, went to the bathroom, and immediately fell back asleep. When I woke up,(the next morning) it seemed as if the event actually happened.

Since you feel that your relationship with God is right, you are neglecting to read His written Word. God is trying to get you to open up the Bible, particularly to those scriptures which He wants you to correctly interpret by the leading of His Holy Spirit, not by your self leading to false understanding. This is something about which you have been hard headed, or stubborn, but God wants to show you new things. God may have been answering a prayer of yours to better know His will for you.

Thanks Tsaeb, I believe you may be on to something here. I am on a major spiritual journey, and I am extremely hard-headed, but I have been reading the Bible every evening, praying all throughout the day, listening to preaching on TV every morning and going to Church every Sunday -- then checking and rechecking myself constantly to make sure I am doing what I perceive God to want me to do, but I do have a sense of needing to surrender everything -- and while I think I already have, I do feel there is something that I am still holding on too, I'm just not sure what that something is. I have been praying for guidance and wisdom because I do want to do what God wants and not what I want. (Did I mention I am extremely strong willed?) Funny thing is, I had been randomly reading the Bible (hoping God would have me open it to the specific messages He wants me to embrace), and for the last several nights, I keep randomly opening it up to Proverbs -- I finally gave in the other night and began to re-read Proverbs from start to finish instead of randomly opening it the next night, which, as you know, is full of God's "Wisdom seeking tools" -- so maybe I am on the right track after all -- except of course on my interpretation of my dream, which I took to mean that while the Devil can possess the flesh,which I have also been conquering (I recently quit smoking) he can't possess the spirit and mind and that I was finally getting it right. Thank you, and by the way, I'm open to more interpretation.

Self can be interference in prayer. Remember that prayer is a dialogue. Since your concern is of too much self interfering, you should pray in a way that God's Spirit initiates the topics which He would have you to conquer for His purposes. A few times I prayed for God to correct and add to my prayers, and now I do not have to pray my topics, because He approaches my Spirit with His topics. God does not need to be told our concerns, but we need to listen more to Him.

In your dream, you claim that of a devil/a demon, ". . . He said that he had to get my head open. . ." Do you realize that God could have come at you that way? He is full of tricks to get our attention on just the right way that He wants us to know His will. God said that "All things work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose." We must be willing to think the unthinkable as surely as many have had to suffer the insufferable. I believe that God Himself by Himself or through an angel has warned you of this.

Wow Tsaeb! I am rather speechless. Perhaps you can expound on this response just a little more. I think you are nailing it on the head, I may just be too stupid to hear what is truly being said -- or too afraid. My 21 year old daughter said -- just last night -- "Mom, I think you are giving the devil way too much credit" I thought about that and it came to me not to worry about where the Devil is coming from -- but, instead, just relax and let God lead me where He wants me to go. I thought I was already doing that, but your statement seems to correlate with her statement somehow. But I seem to be blocking myself. The sense I get is that I am on the edge of something extremely LARGE -- but I could mess it up really, really HUGELY -- and it won't just be me who suffers if I do. I know that sounds kind of whacky, but that's what I feel.

It sounds as though you want truth and true interpretation. It seems that most are perfectly content with their lives as they are and, as you add, are fearful. So they avoid delving into the possibility that God Himself has His ways of still communicating with us one-on-one today. I suggest that you look up the spiritual gifts in the Bible. That's a very interesting dream and tsaeb certainly has looked at it in a very enlightening manner. It's strange but when I read your post I had an entirely different outlook on it. This just goes to show that dream analysis is speculative and the best answers come from the individual doing the dreaming. Only you know what is going on in your life and how your dream applies to it. In this case, the demon could represent an actual demon...or could be representative of what is evil or a temptation to you right now. Perhaps there is a subconscious battle going on between good and evil within yourself. It could be that you have suppressed some "evil" thoughts about a situation and they are trying to surface. Or maybe you are confirming that you recognize what is evil and have the fortitude to not give in to it. Perhaps one day you will be faced with a temptation and will know that you have the strength to turn away from it.

This was a very intersting dream and as you can see, it can mean so many things. Just be aware of your feelings and your life situations and try to see how a dream can relate to them.
