I can understand your concern over your dreams -- I do think that they can sometimes be an omen of something that might happen. I personally kept dreaming that my husband and I were in the car exiting off the expressway when a black car came right at us headon going the wrong way onto the exit. I would wake up totally spooked. I told my husband and my mom about the dream. And then one night, we were driving on the expressway, ready to exit off of the same place, when all of a sudden -- here comes a black car going the wrong way, headed right for us. I screamed my head off --- actually living my dream was just too much. My husband, who was driving and kinda sleeping, managed to pull the car over to the wall and the other car just missed us -- they then proceeded to drive down the expressway the wrong way! Could be that it's a warning of something yet to come -- don't mean to scare you -- or maybe you're just afraid of doing something --something that you know needs to happen -- and you're just putting it off. Good luck, anyway, and hope that you stick around here. P.S. Check your smoke alarms -- just to play it safe, okay? *************************************************** 10-28-05, 10:09 PM gypsywoman Hi Kellygirl and thanks for your response, your dream sounds quite scary especially the fact that it almost came true. Makes you think doesnt it. Ive been under alot of stress latley that may explain these dreams but I am going to see my doc for a complete physical just to be safe. I have had this screaming dream once before, shortly after my sister died, must have been stress and sadness from her loss.I worry now when I go to sleep at night and I think my hubby is a little worried too, I am definatly going to pay closer attention to my dreams and even bought a book to log them as soon as i wake up to see if it helps me figure out why I am having them, thanks again...Tina *************************************************** 01-09-06, 09:27 PM Vanguard1 Hi Kellygirl,
I'm new to this site as of about 2 minutes ago, and this is my first post. Smile Pardon my sticking my nose in, but I think talking about your dreams is a great way to start dealing with them.
When I was a kid, I used to dream I was running on all fours, like an animal, clawing into the ground with my fingers and pushing away with my feet. Real freaky. I fell out of bed a few times, and had no idea why I would dream that. Still don't, it's anxiety I guess. I saw a trailer from a movie recently showing exactly what I used to do in my dreams. It was a horror flick too, which doesn't help. My mom used to belong to a dream group where she and her friends would get together and discuss their dreams. They all kept books to write them down, it helped you to examine what your subconscious was trying to tell you. Sometimes it's obvious, othertimes it's convoluted and totally obscure. There are lots of books to read, different interpretations, some like Carl Jung, others dabble with Freud. Freud was a little hung up on deviant behavior, but I was always told to take it all interpretation with a grain of salt. Sometimes the meaning is literal, othertimes it could be that burrito you had before you went to bed. As for this dream, Jung might say you were suffocating, heading down the wrong path, while those close to you took little notice until you really needed them, when you eventually made the right choice and avoided conflict. You stopped. Black cars could simply mean "the unknown", faceless fears we all run into, or narrowly avoid. Others might say the fact that you wake up screaming means you are really trying to tell yourself to pay attention to your inner self. You are telling yourself to wake up and to remember yourself and your fears. Embrace them, and they will not rule you. Face them and they will disappear. Just a thought, no reason to freak out. I think dreams are rarely premonitions, but are more often thoughts you choose not to face when awake. It's anxiety. Relax and examine how you really feel. Be honest with yourself.
Dave *************************************************** 01-09-06, 09:29 PM Vanguard1 Sorry to mix those two dreams up, I just reread them, and realized I mixed them together. Oops. Good thing I don't do dream interpretation for a living. Big Grin *************************************************** 01-09-06, 11:40 PM jusork

Have no fear. That's part of what the site's all about. Stick your nose in wherever you want. And welcome. *************************************************** 01-10-06, 08:09 PM Vanguard1 Hi jusork,
Thanks for the welcome. I have to admit I've spent so much time reading posts, I feel like I'm eavesdropping. It's nice to see a forum where open discussion can happen without it turning ugly. Everyone here seems genuinely nice, and I just hope I have some interesting stuff to offer. I spent some time in the trivia section, WOW, you guys are well informed. Nice distraction from the boob-tube. Thanks again-- *************************************************** 01-10-06, 09:25 PM Kelleygirl Hello Vanguard1 and Welcome,
Hope you stick around Answerpool and have some fun and learn a few things at the same time. We've got some great people on here.
I agree with you -- don't think that most dreams are omens but an insight into yourself, your desires, your fears. Wish I could interpret them; think that it would be fascinating. *************************************************** 01-10-06, 09:59 PM Vanguard1 Hi Kelleygirl,
Thanks for the welcome, Very cool site. I can't stop reading posts! Help! Roll Eyes It's a nice distraction from the woes of the world. Very interesting topics, very nice and genuine people.
Regarding strange occurences. I am plagued with the numbers 12-17. This happens to be the birthdate of my ex, and I cannot escape seeing those numbers in succession. Everywhere, all the time. This may just get me some couchtime some day. Case in point- I responded to a post from clarebear before: "Posted 08-08-03 12:17 AM I still don't get it. "
Didn't realize it consciously, her response made me smile and I felt compelled to answer it. It wasn't until I reread the post that I noticed it the time. I think symbols and signs are all around us, but it's only on occasion that we notice them. I pay close attention to what I think and do when I first wake up in the morning. You know - when you are still partially asleep? Maybe dreams help to accent the important signs you miss when you are too busy with everyday life?

Big Grin *************************************************** 01-11-06, 07:28 AM Elexina Hello and welcome to both of you!
...as for dream interpretation, I firmly believe that the majority of our dreams stem from a) stress, or b) what we ate before bed. Big Grin *************************************************** 01-11-06, 05:54 PM Vanguard1 Hi Elexina,
Thanks for the welcome! I agree that your diet and stress level effect your dreams, Taco Bell does it to me everytime! Gotta eat it though. =o)
~V *************************************************** 01-12-06, 06:48 AM tsaeb I have two thoughts. First, when I dream that I cannot breathe, I wake up and find that I am truly having difficulty breathing, because the windows need opening. So check the windows before you turn in to sleep. Second, you make me think that you have a fear of fires. So you need to have a smoke detector and possibly also a carbon monoxide detector. Perhaps you have a latent memory of someone having died from these occurrences, which memory you will then have to work through.
