I used to really desire to recall what I dreamnt. Now that I do I discover that I have mostly nightmares about things which took place in my childhood, cruel things, things that my mind shielded me from. Now I wish dearly that I would have no memory of my dreams. So before you seek out a way to remember them, just think that the reason why you don't recall them may be because they are more than you can handle right now. There is a process, it is called lucid dreaming. and example of that process is found here: http://www.lucidity.com/NL11.DreamRecall.htmlGoogle Lucid Dreaming and you will get a lot of hits.

There are a number of herbal remedies to induce sleep, dreams and prophetic visions while sleeping, and there are many "dream dictionaries," most of which provide pointers on how to remember your dreams. My technique? Usually, I wake up just after having a particularly vivid dream (or, at least, I think it's right after -who knows how the mind works!), and I reach for the dream journal I keep under my bed and write them down as soon as possible, before they're gone. Dreams are a way that we sort through our issues subconsciously. If you really weren't dreaming, you would probably be very irritable and angry and uptight. But not remembering your dreams ids fine. If you needed to, I'm sure you would. And David males a good point: before you dive headlong into remembering dreams, take a moment and think, maybe there is a reason that you don't remember them...
