How do you report on your federal income tax gains or losses from currency speculation?

You should receive a statement, such as a Form 1099-B, from your broker.

These are usually entered in Part 1 of Form 6781. The net amount is then entered on Schedule D.

Be sure to address you specific circumstance with a professional tax advisor.
