"Instead of trying to get people mad over the alleged unfairness of some taxpayers paying less than they're supposed to, I would rather try to get them mad over the fact that the government makes all of us pay for trillions in federal spending that's wasteful and counterproductive."

Those are not the only options; in fact, they are not mutually exclusive. But pointing that out would also point out the flaws in the entire reasoning behind the article.

Former IRS agents have stated that the central purpose of audits was to scare the hell out of the person's friends and neighbors.
