When I was young, probably early 70's, I remember watching a tv movie about a little girl taken from her dad because he couldn't care for her. She was placed with a husband & wife to care for her. I believe the husband was the town sherrif. The little girl found an injured bird and cared for it. She met other kids and allowed the kids to throw rocks at the bird. Does this tv movie sound at all familiar? Thank you for your help.

I just Googled a few key words and trawled through the results until I found something that sounded vaguely right,when I saw that the movie was adapted from a book I double checked the book storyline and as I said it seemed to match Birds description.A bit of time and a lot of luck really.

I think it was the comments that the movie got that made me think it might be the right one. It was obviously a very good film for Bird to have found it so memorable.
