Anyone knows if there is a site where you can find the background music (or whatever it's called) to movies and sitcoms?
I particularly want to know what's the music in the background of 'Roseanne'. It sounds like a Country Blues. ++++++++++ 05-27-05, 08:39 PM DorianGreyed Below from the InternetMovieDatabase -

05-27-05, 09:34 PM jusork Woah! Blues Traveler did the theme song? I had no idea. Yeah, Blues Traveler was a popular blues-rock band from the 90s. And that's most likely John Popper on harmonica.
05-28-05, 11:05 AM honilov Thanks a lot Dorian. I know I could hear a little bit of Blues in it. Must have been the harmonica. Some Blues artists used to blow the harmonica, and some country artists did, too. There's a thin line between some Country and Blues music.

Used to? They still do!
05-28-05, 09:42 PM honilov I should have known that, Jusork. I remember the harmonica when I was a little girl, when my parents listened to blues and country. I hardly listen to either anymore, but whenever I do, they both mostly play guitars. Harmonicas really seem so yesterday (so to speak).
05-28-05, 09:54 PM DorianGreyed Honi, try to catch some Toots Theilemans if you think harmonicas are "so yesterday." He played more than Blues, mostly jazz, but most Americans have heard his work; they just aren't aware of it.
(Besides, if it's good music, it's always good. If it's bad, it's bad no matter how new it is.)
I just found this:
" I can say without hesitation that Toots is one of the greatest musicians of our time. On his instrument he ranks with the best that jazz has ever produced. he goes for the heart and makes you cry. We have worked together more times than I can count and he always keeps me coming back for more ..." from Quincy Jones' liner notes Q's Jook Joint, 1995
Some of the names Toots played with - Charlie Parker's All Stars, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, Bill Evans, Jaco Pastorius, Natalie Cole, Pat Metheny, Paul Simon, Billy Joel
05-29-05, 10:49 AM Kelleygirl Hey, guys -- I was talking to my old blues buddy, Frank Lynch, who plays the harp here locally. This subject came up --- the theme song for the "Roseanne" show. He told me that the harp player was Juke Logan; he had remembered an interview with Roseanne and how she wanted Juke to play her theme. So I did a little more work and found this:
Harmonica-duties on "ROSEANNE" were split between Juke and John Popper of Blues Traveler (Roseanne's favorite band). Logan's was the exclusively-featured harmonica in that show's music through its first 8 seasons.
Frank also threw me a few more names of the greatest harp players in blues in case you're interested, Honi:
Big Walter Horton Charlie Mussellwhite Carey Bell Tim Wilson (from Fabulous Thunderbirds) Little Annie Raines and of course, Jerry Portnoy
