" Thurl Ravenscroft, who provided the rumbling "They're Grrrrreeeat!" for Kellogg's Tony the Tiger ads and voiced a host of Disney characters, has died. He was 91."

" "I'm the only man in the world that has made a career with one word: Grrrrreeeat!" Ravenscroft told the Orange County Register in 1996. "When Kellogg's brought up the idea of the tiger, they sent me a caricature of Tony to see if I could create something for them. After messing around for some time I came up with the `Grrrrreeeat!' roar, and that's how it's been since then." " - CNN.com

Below from The Internet Movie Data Base
In addition to his considerable work for Disney and as the voice of Tony the Tiger, Thurl Ravenscroft was for decades the voice of Laguna Beach, California's "Festival of Arts Pageant of the Masters, " a presentation of living pictures where actual humans posed in lifesize works of famous artists such as Norman Rockwell and Winslow Homer, among others. For many people, his will always be remembered as part of the experience of this yearly Laguna Beach event.

Sang "You're a Mean One, Mister Grinch" in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"

Ravenscroft was also in several singing groups in recordings, in film, and on TV.

Mr. Ravenscroft's career as Tony started about the same time as my TV viewing career. As a small child, I refused to eat any cereal other than the one Tony said to eat. I can't imagine a better spokesman for any product, or anyone more associated with a product.
