When I tune into Radio Classique on a car radio in France, the title of the piece of music being played, along with the number of the movement, name of the composer, etc. is displayed in quick succession before the name of the radio station reappears. The sequence then recommmences until the piece is finished.
It all started several months ago over here and I find it useful (if a little distracting when I'm driving). But tell me: is this practice also found in other countries? Does Classic FM in the UK use it, for example, or any of the US or Canadian stations?

Yes. I've just tried BBC 3 on DAB (=digital). Unprompted, it scrolled what was playing. I'm confident that Classic FM does this too. (Naturally, it wasn't the moment I tried it but the programme was of listeners' requests, which they phone in, so the producers had little, if any, notice of what they'd be playing Smile)

Some of my stations (in Phoenix, Arizona, USA) do the same. The good oldies station KOOL 94.5 and the classic music station do, but some others do little more than have a perpetual station ID that lists only their callsign and advertising slogan, or at the most the name of the DJ's / Program playing. I definitely love the scrolling info as I find often that the titles / artists are not mentioned by the DJs.

A favorite classical station I listen to on line only posts selections after they have been played. Their resoning is that they have agreed to abide by an ASCAP request so that people will not set up to record the piece.
