Some friends of mine said they were watching Jeopardy and that they had said Columbus was Jamaican. I think they're crazy. Did anybody see that episode, or know what they're talking about?

Sec. of State Colin Powell is of Jamaican ancestry, perhaps that is what they are thinking of.

In Columbus' day, the only people who knew Jamaica existed were those people living there.

There was a question on Jeopardy about Powell's ancestry. While there is controversy about Columbus' heritage, Jamaican is not one of the possibilities, as Yankee stated above.

And like the rest of yall - I got really confused!!!

The question was...um..

wow i can't remember but it had something to do with Columbus being a seacaptain from Jamaica. As I recall no one got it?

I'm glad someone else saw it too! I think I'm going to have to write to Jeopardy about this! Perhaps they'll be able to shed some light!
