I have been having troubles with this question from my arch-nemesis. Any and all theories as to what he is looking for will be welcomed.
I will just copy and paste the question.

"What is the connection of the 1970s Sci-Fi show Space 1999 to the original Star Trek?
If you can't quite remember, Space 1999 was the short-lived series about a space station on the moon and the moon get's knocked out of the Earth's orbit - if I remember that part correctly..."

Thank you in advance.

Roog? I don't think there was ANYTHING connecting the two. Space 1999, although entertaining, was completely out of the league of Star Trek. If Space 1999 had been a Gene Rodenberry project, albiet a bad one, I could see a correlation...but it wasn't.

I think it was just an attempt at cashing in on the fascination with space at the time...one that didn't work.

Fred Freiberger was a producer of both shows. There may be more, but I haven't looked deeper yet.

Later - Unless there are actors in guest roles in one series and also the other, I didn't find any other things in common.

There is something, however minute or paltry or he wouldn't have asked me that question.
I'll try Fred Freiberger.
Thanks for your interest.

Barry Morse, a series regular on 1999 was in a "Tek War" movie that was directed by William Shatner. Shatnr wrote the book series that the Tek War movies were based on.

According to imdb.com, Martin Landau, the male lead in 1999, was Gene Roddenberry's first choice to play Mr. Spock in the TV series "Star Trek", but the role went to Leonard Nimoy, who later replaced Landau on "Mission: Impossible" (1966), the show that really made Landau famous.

Oh yeah! And didn't Martin Landau actually play Spock's father in several episodes?

Star Trek Next Generation is all that! It really does beat all old Kirk and Spock episodes. This is a definite worth a watch. I have read the Next Generation books also. Fantastic!!

No, that was Mark Lenard, who also played a Romulan and a Klingon as well as the Vulcan (or Vulcanian, as, I believe, Cyrano Jones called them) Sarek.

Sarek portrayers.

Sarek portrayers

DG, you nailed it!!! Thanks so much!
It was the Martin Landau/Spock almost incest thing. Have a good day!

Its my turn to offer up a new Star Trek query, got any difficult ones?
Frankly, Byron and I have been stuck on the Star Trek round of this ongoing trivia game for well over a year now. Score is zero - zero.
These things are supposed to end after 5 wins.
But I digress, you and everybody have been a great help, and I thank you all again.
