No, not snow - No, not spider webs (If this were spider webs they must be mutant spiders!)
Though the stuff looked something like spider silk, however streamers of this white substance were floating around high above our heads for hours yesterday. I figured it was way too long to be spider webbing, we are talking tens of feet in length- the one streamer that hit the light pole was about 30 feet long, it wrapped in the pole, across the street laying on the tops of two Eucylyptus trees and still floated about over our property. The streamer hit a light pole just across the street, it was composed of a long filament ending in a tuft which for the life of me looked like a tube sock. Their was a long very thin filament which was only visable from the sunlight gleaming on it, the sock like tube was about 18 inches long and maybe 3 inches in diameter.
Getting a sample of this stuff: it was somewhat sticky, but fragile. Unlike spider webs it appeared to be made up of smaller filaments, sticking out here and there. It easily balled up, collecting dirt quickly. In the sky in the sunlight the stuff was so brightly white to be nearly shining with it's own light.
Today the sample I got is greyish (Perhaps we played with it too much?)
I did a search last night and got this one site:
http://www.neverland.net/bati/english/eovni.htm The pictures and the description are the same as what I witnessed yesterday.
No I did not see a UFO - No there where no planes in the sky at the time this stuff showed up.
I was outside from abour 9 am to 4:00, this fall of stuff started around 10 am, I first noticed it when I got a glimmer of something at the corner of my eye, I looked and at first thought I was looking at a semicircular contrail, but it neither grew longer nor was a plane evident. As I looked even more I noticed more and more of these things floating around in the clear calm sky of Modesto.
As the day wore on this stuff just continued to float around, some of it latching onto the tree tops. We went to the gas station around 5:00pm and we noted that it was here and there in trees over the whole area. The gas station is about 2 miles away.
This morning I went out and the stuff in the trees is now greyish, looking dirty, I can not find any on the ground.
So what was it????
David
PS nothing was said on the news about this mysterious stuff, I have yet to see the Local Newspaper -
