"Notwithstanding the itching and moaning and gnashing of teeth from the left wing radical fringe, it is an empirical fact that our God given inalienable right to keep and bear arms is FACT."
Yes! Geoff's absolutely right! However, as things stand, the citizens wouldn't stand a chance if they rose up to overthrow an abusive government.
It's outrageous that The People are only allowed pathetic little handguns or assault rifles - good only for the odd multiple murder - when The Government has tanks, artillery, aircraft and so on.
Every citizen in the US has the God-given right to own one nuke at least, which they could launch at Washington whenever peeved about some parking fine, tax demand or pollution restriction. It's the only sane way to run a country.

Yet governments are overthrown from time to time -- and they are invariably better armed than the people who overthrow them. "The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong..." When people in large numbers decide that other political processes fail to meet their needs, they are likely to turn to the politics of last resort. Usually the government seems to make the decision for them, by turning to violent methods itself, first. It's the beginning of the end when they do. Alan Moore
