Any time you get insurance or government programs involved, the costs goes up.
Here is a little something to look for in the future. Rising costs of healthcare for pets & animals. Why??? More & more you find available health insurance for pets. As it becomes more common, guess what...Veternarians will raise their prices because of insurance coverage.

Your cash discounts might work for glasses and one-off tests - but what if (god forbid) you needed a course of more complex treatment?
(In Canada, it seems, we have a mixture of 'fee-per-service' and alternative, contract or salary, methods of paying doctors. But prices for various services and procedures are negotiated nationally, I think. I'm not sure - to be honest, I haven't looked into it properly.)
Insult Edited
They're not isolated incidents; they are incentives. Every self-respecting entrepreneur who can get away with doubling (or trebling) his sales can live to see a more healthy bottom line.
Who's minding the store this year, Obama, Clinton or McCain?
Bzzzt!
Nancy "just get me in there and don't worry about the next two years" Pelosi, and Harry "the war is lost!" Reid!
Honestly, when will these two clowns pay attention to whose minding the Hillary Care Outlet Mall?

Vet, I may suspend you, or I may just edit your posts until it is no longer fun. But, for a while, editing them to remove all nouns (names of things) or verbs (action words) may bring some humor to a situation that is rapidly going downhill. Or you could just post within the rules. (Hint: The rules are not guidelines.) Please try to learn faster.

The participants at this site, especially Honilov, have no intention of showing respect for me, and you have no intention of editing them, regardless of how insulting they are to me. They're not really rules, then, are they? Otherwise, you'd apply them.
Last time I posted here, I remember some users being chased away by people like Juanruiz, Newnickname, Garcolga and Minnesota who (subtley or overtly) insulted those in the religion forum who happened to have deep-seated faith and the will to express it.
I regret not defending them more then. Bigotry is as ugly as racism.

I'm not surprised. Ad hominems were always your forte. Do you still beat your wife?
Bang up job, DG, and great judgment, too.

LR you've just taken my next cause. 'Socialised medicine for pets' ! I used to have insurance for mine but gave up on it because a)it was expensive b) the exclusion clauses were written so that some medical conditions were excluded; some conditions would only be treated for a set time and/or to a set cost/ set number of treatments ;there were exclusions for some pre-existing conditions;there were absurd age limits for some breeds , beyond which the insurers wouldn't pay out for anything; one insurer gave you just 48 hours from the dog being seen by the vet in which to claim, but all had tight time limits. Some clauses which they proclaimed as benefits were absurd in another way. They wrote to me with the 'good news' that my policy now covered third party liability up to the equivalent of $30 million, an increase from from $20 million. Great! The only way my dog was going to cause a claim of $20 million was if it caused a Boeing to crash at London Airport, in which case $30 million wouldn't be enough
So when one got cancer I had to pay for the scans and the radiotherapy etc at Cambridge University Veterinary Hospital. It cost about £1000 ($2000) but she lived and seems fine. But if I'd paid premiums for years for her ( let alone the other 8 dogs, only the one needing expensive treatment) , I could have spent more than that already.

Membership of one day & here you are threatening to ban the guy already. And why??? Because he over-whelms you and you don't know how to respond??? He insults you??? I might point out DG, I seen yo put out some pretty scathing posts yourself. But you are the Administrator & owner of this web-site so you are entitled to do as you want.
And yesterday I masde a post about Vet, stating I like this guy. But not just because I like reading posts that I agree with. I'm sure there are subjects we would have a difference of opinion on. No two like-minded people will agree all the time.
Hell, DG for all the nasty things you & me toss back & forth to each other, we occassionaly find common ground.
But above all, why do I like Vet...because here in one day's time this one person alone has given this place a real shot in the arm. Given some new life to this place I haven't seen in months. Making people think and respond. Over the past couple of years participation has fallen off quite a bit. Many of the old names just don't seem to show up any more. And who knows why they quit coming. I'm sure some were banned, some got bored, many don't have the time, & perhaps a few have died That's a part of life too.
But obviously Vet comes in here like a kid with a new toy. While it is a challenge for many who disagree with him, he certainly does make us think.

LR, I don't think he seriously overwhelmed anyone, but he was plain rude. I think one of his posts, at least, bordered on threatening. Yes sure, people get to say what they think on here, but there have to be certain rules, or we have chaos. There are plenty of sites on the internet one can join, that are a free for all, and where the rules of fair debate don't apply. Did you realise that Vet broke the AP rules just by joining under a different name? Are you aware he was given the benefit of the doubt and allowed to participate, but ignored several warnings about his posts? Sure, AP was busier yesterday, but at what cost?
Since writing my previous post, I now see Vet's loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong name has been shortened. Now he is referred to as the Village Idiot. Now if he requested the name change, that's his choice. But if the change was arbitarily attached by the site management, couldn't the case be made they are breaking site rules??? The rules concerning name calling...

I was assuming Vet was a new member on here. I didn't know he already had a previous history under a different name.
As for his posts, yes some are considered rude. But others can get pretty rude here as well. Apparantly I missed the threatening ones or took them different from what others did.

LR, I hope you won't take offence, but I have a question for you. Why do you spell the first part of your name as you do? I have been wondering about it, and since you brought up the subject of screen names, I thought I'd ask.

No offence taken. Actually quite simple. When I applied for the yahoo e-mail account, lighteningrod, (with only one "d") was already taken. This version was not. So I went with it.

Not to be presumptuous, but dg may be asking why you write "lightening" with an "e", since it's spelling is generally accepted as lightning. "Lightening" to me sounds like a bleach or peroxide.
Edit: nevermind.
