Well, I just re-read my post from the other thread, and I still stand by everything that I said. Ideally, such things should be looked at one a case-by-case basis, to determine whether all parties involved are mature and responsible enough to understand the consequences of sexual activity, to ensure that they understand proper birth control and sexually transmitted disease protection, but this is simply not practical and so limits must be applied. Yes, perhaps this denies some mature teens a certain amount of sexual activity, but that is really not a big deal. They have plenty of time later in life to be sexually active. The government is not restricting sexuality. They are placing age limits on sexual activity in order to protect impressionable juveniles from relationships they are not emotionally ready to handle.
