# Authorities say a bomb was left in a vehicle blocks away from the Capitol
# Michael Gorbey arrested for carrying loaded shotgun outside Capitol
# Capitol Police discovered explosive three weeks later after returning with warrant

Authorities revealed Tuesday that a man carrying a loaded shotgun was arrested in January near the U.S. Capitol, and explosives left in his truck nearby went undetected for three weeks.

He was arrested Jan. 18 for carrying the shotgun and a sword outside the Capitol. Gorbey told police he was headed to an appointment at the Supreme Court. No one was injured in the incident, which caused gridlock for hours on Capitol Hill.

U.S. Capitol Police discovered the explosive device three weeks later when they returned with a search warrant to check the truck, which was in a government parking lot.

Terrance Gainer, the Senate sergeant-at-arms, told The Washington Post the device in Gorbey's truck, which was parked about two blocks from the Capitol, "could have caused serious injuries," if detonated.

Police initially searched Gorbey's truck in January and said there were propane tanks and wires but no immediate danger. They used a robotic camera to look inside the vehicle and a powerful water hose to destroy suspicious items inside.

Now U.S. Capitol Police are investigating how their bomb squad missed the bomb.

But I've been assured we are safe if any terrorists get an ICBM, get some type or nuclear warhead, somewhere to launch it from, and someone to figure out how to launch it. Roll Eyes

I wonder if the warrant would have been easier to obtain if the truck had been parked in the judge's driveway?

My ship tested an SM-3 missile once, capable of "hitting an object the size of a fence post traveling at mach 3", according to liberal drule sites.

We went to our weapons depot and loaded 1 (one) missle into a VLS tube. We steamed for 10 days to the waters near Hawaii. We took one shot at such a target and hit it. We then went home. (There was no discussion of the possibility of missing or needing additional test "materials".)

I think we can all have some confidence that the combination of our 200 naval vessels, NORAD, 15 intelligence agencies, and sheer intimidation of our successes in the last 7 years will keep nukes out of the US.

Sleep tight. Our service members are good at what they do.

I think it is almost a certainty that a nuke will be smuggled into the US within the next 20 or so years. I hope that it is found before it becomes too late (in which case we will probably never be told about it), but I think it may not. Smuggling via shipping containers is my guess on how it will enter the US. (Something like 5% or them are inspected; inspecting all of them would bring importing to a grinding halt.)

I'm going to challenge you on this one--I don't believe that this is your sincere opinion, I think you're just playing to the crowds here.

Open to the challenge?

While I admit to playing to the crowd at time (after all, this is both an information and entertainment site), I assure you that I sincerely believe this. I wish I thought otherwise, but I don't.

But I see how you may think I do not feel that way. After all, you have said in several posts that you know how Liberals think. It's just a small step from knowing how all Liberals think to knowing how one Liberal thinks.

Tell me, how long have you felt you had the ability to read minds? Was this ability present in childhood, did it come to you as a result of
puberty (perhaps a hormonal influence), or did it possibly appear after some sort of brain trauma?

I'll take that as a "yes".

So question #2: what have you done about it?
