Will Dick Cheney find that his heart condition warrants resignation in late January 2007 ? If so would GWB take the opportunity to appoint Condoleeza Rice to the vice-presidency ? It would give the GOP a head start on the 2008 campaign and give Dr Rice a chance of serving two terms.

How plausible is this version of events to come? It depends on GWB being rather progressive in his thinking.

It would be a guess by any of us, but I don't believe he'd appoint her as Vice.

Anyway, if the decision would hinge on Bush's thinking, he probably choose Wyatt Earp. I don't know if I spelled that right, but you get the picture.

I catch your drift, but recall that Earp was, in fact, a law enforcement officer. I suspect that, given his druthers, Karl Rove would have Bush appoint someone closer to his heart. Like, say, Karl Rove.
