Yes, two states (states of the European Union, that is)

You really
do live in a different world over there, don't you?
Seriously,I'll be interested to see what practical or other difficulties plans like that have (and even more interested to see what the results of Obama's plans will be, if they ever get into practice). It may be difficult to 'bolt on' any plan.
We haven't got that problem.Obama is supposed to have said that, perfectly, he'd start from scratch with universal health care but, of course,he can't.
Our child (daughter aged 20

) was taken ill at college recently. She was ambulanced to the hospital [National Health Service, of course].Treatment was fine;in a specialist 'lung' ward for asthma and other such conditions ,immediate tests, analysis and examination by specialists, found to have a lung infection on top of asthma and a virus underneath that, out again as right as rain in 4 days; but one complaint from the 'child'.What was that ? Yes,she was
bored and there was no personal internet access by her bed

. Could she have a private room in the hospital, because she understood that there was internet in the private rooms?

We said 'No'.She'd then be a private patient and every test, of which there were lots, would cost £350 (say, $ 670 )let alone the cost of the room and the ( very same) specialist etc etc .Naturally, we don't have health insurance, but it's arguable that an insurer would refuse her anyway, or bump up any premium ,because she had a pre-existing condition(asthma) which was the big component in her being in hospital.Without her being an asthmatic her problems would have been minimal and not given rise to anxiety.
Must write to the local Member of Parliament about the internet for asthmatics who are either wearing an oxygen mask or tubed to take oxygen !
