Should Kerry win, do you see a role for Bill Clinton in Kerry's administration?

I really think being an ex-President is about the coolest job in the world.

If Clinton is up to a role, he might make a fine U.N. Ambassador. That might suit him geographically as well.

That is exactly what I thought, Fuse, although Sec. of State also seems a natural fit. Regardless of how much many in the US hate him, most of the rest of the world loves the guy.

Isn't Clinton supposed to be next in line for Kofi Annan's job?

I have not heard anything about that, but it is an interesting idea. I am not even sure that he could be eligible; every other Sec. General of the UN has been from a small country, and none from a country with a permanent seat on the Security Council. (The Security Council is composed of China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and ten other member nations on a rotating basis. The named five hold permanent seats.)

Below from the UN Charter

Article 97
The Secretariat shall comprise a Secretary-General and such staff as the Organization may require. The Secretary-General shall be appointed by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council. He shall be the chief administrative officer of the Organization.

---------------------------------------------

I found nothing else regarding ualifications for the post on the UN's oficial site. However, below is from another site, the United Nations Information Centre in Nairobi

Who elects the Secretary-General?
The Secretary-General is elected by the General Assembly on the recommendations of the Security Council.

-----------------------------------------

I suspest that Clinton may qualify.

Apparently, he does qualify, and, according to the Washington Times and Roland Flamini
UPI Chief International Correspondent
, he wants the job.
