Isn't Clinton supposed to be next in line for Kofi Annan's job?

I have not heard anything about that, but it is an interesting idea. I am not even sure that he could be eligible; every other Sec. General of the UN has been from a small country, and none from a country with a permanent seat on the Security Council. (The Security Council is composed of China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and ten other member nations on a rotating basis. The named five hold permanent seats.)

Below from the UN Charter Article 97 The Secretariat shall comprise a Secretary-General and such staff as the Organization may require. The Secretary-General shall be appointed by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council. He shall be the chief administrative officer of the Organization. --------------------------------------------- I found nothing else regarding ualifications for the post on the UN's oficial site. However, below is from another site, the United Nations Information Centre in Nairobi Who elects the Secretary-General? The Secretary-General is elected by the General Assembly on the recommendations of the Security Council. ----------------------------------------- I suspest that Clinton may qualify.
