Which agency is it that pays family members to take care of infirm family members?

My mother did it with my grandmother; since she cooked and cleaned the house she was able to have the government kick her back a check. Since mother and I are not on speaking terms, I am hoping one of you all know where to go on this.

The California Department of Social Services does it. I can't find any details on what to do to get it, but if you contact them they should be able to tell you. Good luck!

If you are applying for Social Secuity to be a guardian of someone disabled or to help you care for someone unable to care for themselves then you need to contact the Social Security Office. They should guide you in the right direction.

Social Security has a toll-free number that operates from 7AM to 7PM, Monday to Friday: 1-800-772-1213
