Tonight CBC will broadcast again, in the news feature program
The Fifth Estate, testimony about the conspiracy to hide the Bush connection to oil interests in the middle east. These connections, the conspiracy theory claims, go back to the 1970's, continuing to the present day; and they ultimately put George W. Bush in power.
I was interested to note that when the issue was first aired on CBC, in 2003, Americans wrote in thanking
The Fifthe Estate, and the CBC, saying that such a news program would never be aired in the U.S. One such letter said, "I get my news only from the CBC, BBC or the French news because the american media does not or will not report such things for whatever reason. "
http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/conspiracytheories/feedback.html And within the 2003 interview itself, there is a hint of why not.
Charles W. "Bill" White talks about how he was threatened by James Bath, the Saudi oil magnates' busniness representative, to cover up the Bush-Saudi connection, money laudering, and huge financial contributions to the Bush campaign:
"Well, when Bath and I first had our conversation where he requested that I cooperate in a
cover-up, he said you’ve got a choice. He said you can either do this voluntarily or the Bank
that’s laundering the Saudi money and I are going to inundate you in frivolous lawsuits and
we’re going to make your life “a goddamn living hell”. Those were his exact words. He also
said: “Now I know you being Mom and Apple Pie think that America’s about truth and justice,
but that’s nothing but a bunch of horse petui.” He said if we sue you, number one you’re not
going to have money to pay lawyers to defend yourself against these lawsuits, and number
two, in the unlikely event that you could ever get legal representation, all it would take is a
call from George Bush to the Republican Judges who are beholding to him - his political
appointees, and he said you’ll never get a chance to tell this story to a Jury. You’ll never even get a day in Court."
So the only place to hear White's evidence, true or false, is on the internet.
-- Does such intimidation and suppression occur, do you think?
-- Do you ever watch foreign news broadcasts?
-- Do you ever read foreign magazines or newspapers?
-- Did you seek out foreign opinion on issues such as, Why did France refuse to join in the attack on Iraq?
Or do you just uncritically accept the reasons as explained by your leaders?
