Well folk it sounds like Hillery really stepped in it yesterday. According to the NY Daily News,Hillery was reported to have said the following speaking at a church honoring M.L.K.

"when you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation - and you know what I am talking about."

Does anybody know a good oral surgeon to help Hillery remove her foot from her mouth.

I guess any time anybody says something that gives the other side ammunition to use against you is a stupid thing to say. Even though she was right. A professional politician should be able to predict the consequences better. I guess she gave the Republicans too much credit in thinking they would be adults about it.

This will do nothing to hurt her politically. Just add it to the list of things that she says that gets blown out of proportion, yet she always gets through the fallout ok.

The Bush administration needs to take lessons from Hillary in the art of damage control.

I posted this elsewhere. Should have said it here:

According to Sharpton, Ms. Clinton's speech was not in a church, it was at a political forum sponsored by Sharpton, at which politicos from the right had also spoken. And her comment was in response to a question from the audience, about why the democrats hadn't been advocating issues of importance to blacks. Moreover, as the reader may have already heard, Newton Gingrich used the very same metaphor to describe the then democrat run congress, around 12 years ago. Finally, as usual, the republicans have attacked the messenger and not the message, and the media have jumped right in. Have you heard anyone address the point she was making, ie that the leadership of congress squelches criticism and has shut the dems out of the debate?

A spokesman for Clinton also defended the remarks, saying she was pointing out that the GOP House leadership has stifled substantive debate.

Unlike the Senate, where the rules allow the Democratic minority to extend debate and block legislation, House rules allow the GOP leadership to set limits on debate and dictate how legislation will be handled. In recent years, House Democrats have complained of Republicans running roughshod over them.

I don't see where she put her foot in her mouth even tho she could have used another choice of word. It could be that she was trying to teach Bush a new word. I'm sure he asked Condi what did plantation mean. Wink

You're right Frank.
