Although the 22nd amendment (or is it the twelveth)forbids a US. President who served two terms to come back again, could he serve as Vice-President? And in the event of the President's death become President again?

No. From the 12th Amendment:
"no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."
