dancegirl Ouch! You pondered the answer to a question and I told you my answer. It says my allegiance to that country is such that I see it as a good place to raise my children, work in a profession that serves others in my community, pay taxes, volunteer, and sometimes, only if dragged along, attend cold hockey arenas, at ungodly hours to watch practices..the last, in the name of supporting Canadian sport.
well of course, all in the line if duty as a parent. I still do not understand why a law abiding resident from over-home, would not become a citizen, especially after 15+ years. BTW: UK citizens can hold other commonwealth passports as dual passport holders (well the last I heard)

Oh I am an expert alright. All we had to do was win at least 2 out of 6 against last place teams to be playing today and possibly into the postseason. They go out and lose 5 of 6, and the last one in the ultimate cruel and unusual manner . I had my postseason ticket burning ceremony yesterday after the collapse concluded and then went surf fishing and drank beer . It was a beautiful sunset over the harbor and the smoke from my postseason tickets aflame kept the gnats at bay . In the infamous words of Taggart: (From Blazing Saddles) I AM DE -pressed

I gave you my reason. Interpret it as you will. You asked for reasons why someone doesn't become a citizen, and the reason I gave is one of them. I will add, that my original answer covers a myriad of personal reasons for putting citizenship at the bottom of my list of priorities. None of which have anything to do with my allegiance to Canada. Beautiful imagery...any pics?

Yes, but in my current state of confusion I don’t have what I need to upload them with me . I will give it a go tomorrow (going fishing again very soon) and try to post them then. That is of course if I don’t do what I contemplated doing yesterday. As I waded into the water once I got to about knee deep with my dog on my heels I contemplated walking until my chest waders filled with water and I sunk to the bottom. When I looked back at his lil’ face I just couldn’t do it . Just kidding, I would never ( intentionally ) harm myself .

Thanks Koz, This is one of those occasions for which there are no appropriate words of condolence, ....especially when one doesn't have a clue about baseball. It's kind of like cricket isn't it?

Fred: Are you serious about those questions in the UK? I better keep my British citizenship, I'd never pass a test like that without a lot of reading.
Yes.The sample questions were taken from facts given in the books which immigrants must read before the exam. They had multiple choice answers. The sample question about the marriage in the Royal Family had the wrong answer. The answer given was 'a non-Protestant' The correct answer is 'a Roman Catholic'. The law debars Roman Catholics and any one married to a Roman Catholic from being in the line of succession to the throne. So Prince Harry could marry a Mormon or a worshipper of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (and might well do )but not a Catholic.
