That is a pretty one-sided column. What it omitted was the fact that the judge found that the two DJs were the entire I-912 movement, that they were the backbone of what is essentially a civic dispute. The order was not to suppress their freedom of speech, but to make their position known, and, since they never let the public know that "they" were the movement, the public was being fooled. The public was led to believe that they were objectively speaking about the issue. Most media either preface an editorial or follow an editorial with the information that it is an opinion. These guys didn't do that. Since they didn't, the judge determined that they were making a contribution to one side. The media operates, or should operate, with the presumptive of objectivity, unless it is offering an opinion or commentary, and that opinion or commentary must be noted as such. They didn't lose any freedom of speech; they are can still speak out against (or for) any issue. Hopwever, since it is impossible to change what they did, the judge decided that the only fair way to "even" the airwaves was to call their prior programs a contribution. Now I don't know the specifics of either side of the issue, so I have no idea which I would support, but it sounds to me that the judge did the fair and sensible thing.
