I saw on a news web site that a man had an small collection of child porn and nude photos of woman in his house and he printed the photos off the WWW. He said that he was only using them for him self. Did he break any law? There are some sick people out there but that is life I guess.

Yes, he broke the law and can go to prison! It is highly illegal to possess or download child pornography in the U.S. Even accidental downloading is a crime. Having nude photos of "Women" of legal age (18 or older) is perfectly legal.
