Bush plans 50th ranch trip in five years

WASHINGTON (AP) — Following the Congress in a midsummer exodus, President Bush plans a Texas ranch respite for several weeks, while Supreme Court nominee John Roberts has August to think about Senate confirmation hearings.
White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Friday that Bush will leave after signing into law the Central American Free Trade Agreement that Congress gave final approval to earlier this week.

It will be the president's 50th trip to the ranch since he was elected nearly five years ago.

50 vacations in 5 years -- not too shabby! Wonder if this is some new presidential record?

I think he can accomplish the same in either Washington or Texas, and his job is certainly a high pressure one. Besides, if a high profile right-to-die issue comes up, he can always fly back.

Is that all? Mr Blair, his Home Secretary and his Foreign Secretary have all left on holiday. There were protests when the Home Secretary was going, because he is in charge of dealing with small matters here such as bombings, terrorism etc
So he deferred his leaving by 48 hours Roll Eyes

If he's in charge of that stuff, wouldn't it be better if he moved his holiday up by a couple of days? Then any bombings would have to be deferred until his return. Smile
