Our moon has angular velocity about the earth of one RPM (Revolutions/Month). It also has an angular velocity about it's own axis of exactly 1 RPM. This seems odd to me as i cannot think of the mechanism by which such a thing is forced. My question is: Do all moons in our solar system have a dark side ? Or none except luna ... some ?
The dynamic match of our moon's rotation and revolution are not a coincidence. It is due to tidal friction within the moon. I could explain it but I'll let this site give it a go.
Thanks Kendor, seems obvious after reading about it. So all the moons will have dark side ... within some limits ... ie, the earth does not have a dark side. Yet the sun must be slowing our rotation due to this effect. I don't think i'm gonna do the integrals.
